Snowbound

So we were supposed to drive to Wassaic, NY, to get the train to NYC today so we could meet Jesse and Mike to go to St. John the Divine Cathedral and hear Paul Winter in his annual Winter Solstice concert. But first the kennel where we had planned to board Casey refused to take him because the woman I had talked with on the phone about vaccinations, who was also the woman at the reception desk this morning, failed to make it clear to me what all Casey needed to have and, more importantly, NOT have (see Bordatella vaccine as "live virus"). So we had no one to look after the dog while we were away. And by then it had started snowing...

Several hours and several inches later, it's still snowing. So we're glad we weren't driving our old pickup truck 60 miles without snow tires on small county roads through the Berkshires. Very disappointed not to see Jesse and Mike, and hear Paul Winter--and one of these days before I die I hope to make it to St. John the Divine Cathedral.

But after buying some groceries, we enjoyed our first Snowed In experience here in Pittsfield. I finished up a couple of Christmas presents, made a yummy supper (Brussels sprouts and pancetta over pasta--believe me, it's great! and I have a lifelong hatred of Brussels sprouts), and watched "The Last Mimzy" with Timothy Hutton, one of my lifelong crushes.

Tomorrow we're thinking about getting a snowblower.
