Our new Bisbee?

We took a day trip today along the Mohawk Trail (Route 2) from North Adams to Shelburne Falls, then strolled around Shelburne Falls for a couple of hours. A beautiful, quiet little town with a couple of good bookshops—could it be our new Bisbee? While we lived in Tucson, we used Bisbee as our not-too-far-to-drive-but-far-enough-away-to-be-restful destination whenever we needed a break from workaday life. We've been looking for our new "Bisbee" here, without success until today. Shelburne Falls may not turn out to be our ultimate getaway place, but it definitely has potential! Here are some photos of what caught my eye:

On the Mohawk Trail

We used to stop at these shops when I was a kid, and I always bought a pair of Minnetonka moccasins. I decided against it today.

A very big Indian!

New England asters—maybe my favorite fall flowers—on the Bridge

I liked this sign

Rock striations in the Glacial Potholes

Have you ever seen barrels this color before? Maybe that's why they're in the dumpster.

It could be a keeper, if we find a good place to stay that has a jacuzzi tub…
