I've never been too sure what I believe about Jesus. Was he actually God in human form? I can't fully latch onto that as a guiding faith statement—it has always sounded too much like so many other mythologies I studied in my college anthropology classes. But this past Sunday we sang an unfamiliar hymn, and one line rang out so loud as I sang it that I grabbed a Visitor card out of the pew and wrote it down:
Life is hallowed by the knowledge: God has passed this way before.
Definitely incarnational. And something I believe, even if I don't believe in it.
