Handing Out Sunshine

I decided to post a request this year on Together Rising's "Holiday Hands" project, asking for cards and emails of hope for a loved one who is struggling with depression.  After fighting with my iPhone for several minutes last week, I finally quit trying to post my request in a fit of frustration and despair and ended up in a crying jag so fierce I had to call out of work for the day.  I'm in the process of changing medications for my own depression and am pretty fragile myself at the moment!

Anyway, it turns out my post did go through, and I got a notification today that my request was included on the list of "available" needs.  I've since been online for the past hour replying to a flood of emails from wonderful women around the country wanting to help "send some sunshine" to my loved one.  The immediate outpouring of generosity from strangers makes me cry.  OK, so everything makes me cry right now, but truly, it is so incredibly inspiring to see how people want to help others make it in this world.  One woman has even forwarded my request to her friends and co-workers so they can add to the deluge of sunshine.

Asking for help for someone else has ended up inundating me with sunshine that I need right now, too!  Thank you so much to all the loving people out there who want to share what they have with people who need it.  You make this world a place to believe in.
