Trixie Belden, at a Certain Age

When I was a kid, my sisters used to call me Trixie Belden—after the lead character in a series of mystery books for young people.  When I looked at myself in the mirror today with my hair pulled back in a headband, I said, "Hey, it's Trixie Belden!"

And it has always fascinated me that my grandmother had a job back in the Depression Era tinting photographs.

So here is my next self-portrait, in the style of mid-20th century young adult fiction illustrations, "hand"-tinted in Photoshop.
