Moving Along

Dicha just left for her new home: a family with 4 boys, the oldest of whom (about 10 years old) is responsible for her care. He hugged me and said, "Thank you! I will love her!" before they left. And Dicha leaped up on the mom like she was her own long-lost mother, and then flew into the van with her ears up and tail going like a propeller! I think she'll be fine. I, on the other hand, will take a little time to get used to her absence. The house is so much quieter without her! She was a perpetual ball of energy. I spent the morning sitting on the floor, wrestling with her and Casey. And I let her climb up in my lap in the chair for a few minutes before she left. Casey keeps looking out the window--he was incensed that he didn't get to go for a ride in the car, too!

So now I have no excuse not to get to all the cleaning and sorting and packing that has to be done before we leave here in a month. I'm totally overwhelmed by it all. How to discern what we will need to keep out for the next month here, and then what we'll need to have for our travels back East and for 3 weeks in London, and then what we'll need to have if we end up living in a furnished apartment in Pittsfield for a while (which looks likely, since we can't buy a house there until we sell this one and the chance of getting a confirmed bid in the next 4 weeks is remote), and pack accordingly and label everything so we can be sure the movers deliver the right stuff to the right place... It's too complex for my wigged out mind to handle right now. My theme song for the summer: "24, 24 hours a day--I want to be sedated!!!"
