Back to the Berkshires

We just returned from a beautiful weekend in New Jersey and New York City, where our daughter Jesse wed her beau, Michael Vincent Piscitello, in a 3-day festival that couldn't be beat! It was the culmination of a long courtship and months of detailed festivity planning, and the beginning of what I'm sure will be a long and creative life together. They're now honeymooning in Italy for 3 weeks—they've definitely earned it!

And now James and I are back in the Berkshires to spend our summer tending our garden and taking day-trips to explore our new North Atlantic home. On the drive up from New York City, we saw the sign for "Montreal—284 miles" and said, "Hey, let's just keep driving—it's only another 5 hours! We can call in sick to work for a couple of days…" But, alas, responsibility (and lack of finances) won out and we took the exit for Massachusetts. We do hope to make it to Montreal sometime this summer, though. James has never been, and I haven't been there in 20+ years. We love exploring cities together!

I've actually continued to document the passing seasons here in our lovely yard but haven't had the time to write a new blog post to show them all to you. So I added them to my "Berkshire Views" slideshow that lives at the bottom of this blog page. If you're interested in the June blooms, take a look-see.

Just got back from Montreal myself--although I was at a conference half an hour west of the city and only took one short jaunt into town to have dinner at a friend's house. Didn't see much of Montreal proper except from her apartment window! Still want to get back myself. Gorgeous place.
