Everything Is Broken, P.S.
Turns out my sewing machine was just shrieking out a warning before engaging a safety feature—the handwheel popped out so the needle wouldn't move. I thought maybe the belt had broken and took the cover off only to discover the Simple Solution: re-engage the handwheel. I tell ya', these working-class Kenmore machines take care of themselves, boyo. No hothouse divas break-down-at-the-first-sign-of-misuse here! OK, well, maybe the second sign of misuse, or third, or twentieth. I'm hard on a machine.
