Epiphany Surprise

The season of Epiphany is a time for listening.  And by listening long and closely, open to whatever you might hear, to be available for surprise.  I never expected to wake up two mornings ago and know without question that we must travel to Tucson within the next couple of weeks to visit with our good friend Roger before he leaves this life.

I'm the one who always says, "We can't afford that right now." "That" travel or "that" something special James wants to treat us to.  And a spontaneous trip to the Southwest definitely falls into my "that" category!  So I was very surprised to find myself proposing this trip.  And I'm amazed that I've continued to be absolutely certain that we will go see Roger and Debby, even if I can't see at all how we're going to make it happen.

Epiphany Surprise #1:  Dianne proposes a trip to Tucson this month.

Epiphany Surprise #2:  Dianne's neurotic financial anxiety takes a back seat to her faith that "the Lord will provide," a phrase her mother lived by that was never disproved.

Epiphany Surprise #3:  ?
